Talk:Wikiphrenia

Hey, I heard there was a new and alarming phenomenon, Wikiphrenia - it's a serious form of mental disturbance that occurs when a user of a wiki like this one becomes dangerously obsessed with receiving praise, attention, and awards to the point of near-complete dissociative thinking. LOL. --Alarmingly Disturbed Person 06:16, 16 Dec 2005 (UTC)

I heard that too! Apparently the afflicted user normally begins by creating one or more "sock puppet" accounts, and then attempts to establish credibility for them by posting a series of crappy articles, pointless edits, or unnecessary redirects. The final stage of wikiphrenia is when the user begins to hold "chat" sessions between the himself and the sock puppets - basically talking to himself. That usually takes the form of self-congratulatory bullshit about how the user "deserves greater respect" and recognition from, well, us. LOL. --Even More Alarmingly Disturbed Person 07:17, 17 Dec 2005 (UTC)
I was reading this book by some shrink named Sigmundheimer F. Rhoid, I think it was called The Information Highway to Bat-Fuck Insanity, and this guy sez wikiphrenia may be closer to inferiority complex than pure schizophrenia. He says almost all of these fuckaz are male, or at least think they are... For most of 'em, lack of attention or support from parents leads directly to an internalized inflation of the superego in response, artificially bolstering self-esteem and creating an extremely fragile ego-facade. IRC and stuff like that encourages it because negative reinforcers are easily blanked, while positive ones are just as easily highlighted as far more significant than they really are. Eventually, the 'hole creates an wiki-self so far removed from reality, he might as well be completely fucked in the ass by a fellow prison inmate. LOL. --Disturbed But In Denial Person 08:18, 18 Dec 2005 (UTC)
No shit! There's no cure either, looks like... it's too new to be in any catalog and nobody's even been diagnosed with it except for you-know-who. You think we should just ignore people like that? I say we piss on 'em first. LOL --Sociopathic Monster-to-be 09:19, 19 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Look here d00dz, these fuckaz are terrorizing and abusing other wiki-ers, writing a buncha shit and guarding the shit like junkyard dogz. People are gettin' pissed off, and we're gettin' fucked over too. I mean, we don't get paid for this shit and people hate our guts anyway, so what are we goon do? Delete all that shit? People'd be all over our ASS for that. But it's that or sit back and watch our shit get fucked if you ask me... All the good people are just gonna bolt, simple azzat. LOL. --Flaming Wack-Job 10:20, 20 Dec 2005 (UTC)

By the way fellas, Wikiphrenia is also the title of the downloadable, hyperlinked, publicly-editable version of Wikiphrenia by The Who. Shitty album, though. I can't laugh out loud, by the way, my jaw's wired shut. Sorry. --Some User 11:21, 21 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Uh if the person in question from Missouri is me, I was diagnosed with Wikiaffective Disorder, which is like Wikiphrenia but it is caused by Depression and only cycles like Wikiphrenia for up to two weeks at a time, with a depressed cycle, and perhaps a normal cycle if I am lucky. Which makes it not quite the same things, and you'd have to be stupid to take such a thing as serious and confuse it for Wikiphrenia. I cannot be cured, but like John Forbes Nash, I learned to just ignore my sock puppets so that I can try to be normal (whatever that is) and continue on with my brilliant work. I am working on new ideas for computer programs and new business ideas and theories in economics. I actually was able to shut off my sock puppets for the past week or two. I no longer crave attention, praise, awards, etc. I helped write Uncyclopedia Junkie long ago, but it is going to be merged with another article. ----Lt. Dave...? Is that... you?
Seriously, Orion B., I promise, swear on a stack o' bibles, cross my heart & hope to die that the "Missouri" reference didn't refer to you personally. Let's just say I, uhhh, picked it at random. And I liked what it linked to, so it's actually a compliment! In fact, if you'd ever like to collaborate on anything, let me know - I'm a good speller at least, even if I tend to be a one-trick-pony subject-matter-wise.
--Some user 04:31, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Dave? Dave's not here! :) I wrote the Missouri article, being from Missouri gave me the creativity to write it. I actually suffer from some mental illnesses and had people harass me for that. I am glad that I was not singled out, and that you picked one of my articles to reference. The thing that helps me cope with my mental illnesses is to joke about them or about many things, still a lot of people just do not get my sense of humor. Maybe we can work together on articles in the future, I look forward to that. --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 01:51, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
Okay... So arrrrrr you mostly into scenarios like PI equals exactly three, where you start and others expand, or what I like to call "serial" collaborations? I'm more interested in the latter, but hey, whatever! In addition to psychology and wikis (and how they're related), I'm also considering some articles about business management, salesmanship, sea creatures, and musical instruments. I should also point out that I'm not a conservative. --Some user 04:54, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Speaking of pi, did you know that if you round pi to three decimal places, for a string of exactly five characters, the last two numbers are exactly the same as the product of the two numbers on either side of the decimal place if you round it to two decimal places, or four characters? Food for thought, that. Heck, I might have to submit that one! --FakeNoobz 05:02, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

LOL! I totally pwn n00bz! FEEL MY WRATH, N00BZ! --ThreeTimesFourteen 07:37, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
