Colonization[edit source]

Lets try to keep this article about Venuzuela. There is more then enough to write about, so lets utilise it rather then make up stuff. ~Sir Rangeley Icons-flag-us.png GUN WotM UotM EGA +S (talk) 02:28, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)

The flag, coat of arms, and map all seem to be DREADFULLY factual. I did as much as I could to the flag, but it can't be finished until the coat of arms gets some slapstic surgery. Sadly, the coat of arms has me drawing a blank. As soon as someone uploads something good, I'll finish the flag up. That is, unless someone else wants to do it for me...;) ~ Putz 12:54 am (Central), 9 Nov 2005

They were merely placeholders untill some custom flags/seals are made. If you do manage to make new ones, that would be simply grand. The flag with 'paramount' is pretty good, though that mountain isnt in venezuela... but I doubt anyone will care.

As for the map, I strongly disagree with making a new one. Fake maps are never funny, and keeping atleast a few things true to life (such as location) is always better for humor.~Sir Rangeley Icons-flag-us.png GUN WotM UotM EGA +S (talk) 19:49, 9 Nov 2005 (UTC)

I came up with a coat of arms as well - Venezuela COA HA.gif -, but it seems someone with very similar ideas beat me to it. I would say "Let the best CoA win", but when I previewed the page with my image, the thumbnail looked like complete ass (no donkey puns intended), so I'll leave it as is.

It is hard to fit so much detail into a tiny image, even if you have the big to work with. Feel free to use whichever you want. My version sucks as well (And I didn't steal your ideas, I hope... Rangeley asked me to make it, gave me the details: ("I was thinking it could be made to represent the country better, replace the horse with a donkey, replace the two at the top with oil, and something else, and then the leaves be made to look like marijuana")). --Splaka 07:51, 10 Nov 2005 (UTC)

I'll have it go on record that any map of Venezuela made in Venezuela includes Guyana, but as "Zona de Reclemacion", which means: "working on it...". --201.242.127.9 20:22, 10 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Indeed, I did ask Splaka to make basically the exact same thing, which is sort of funny I guess. It must represent venezuela better if we both came up with similar ideas. But I think the one up now looks fine, it fits well with everything. ~Sir Rangeley Icons-flag-us.png GUN WotM UotM EGA +S (talk) 20:51, 10 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Rewrite of the History Section[edit source]

I wrote the History section for this article. I have recently realized that what I wrote is total crap. Can I re-write what I wrote so it isn't so random, and not full of patent nonsense? Thanks, 02:19, 22 April 2007

Since it's been about a week since I posted the above message, and no one has replied, I'll get cracking on the re-write of the History shortly. 21:13, 29 April 2007.

Due to my laziness, it's likely that I won't re-write the History section of Venezuela until July or August. That is all. 19:33, 16 June 2007

You know what, I'll get to doing the History section when/if I get off my lazy butt to do it. User:Toonmon 07:41, 22 July 2007

Toonmon's signature keeps reducing the point size, so here's a new heading[edit source]

On a new MediaWiki, that didn't even work, so I just deleted his signatures above.

I just spruced up Politics \ Foreign Relations, and folded in two points from current headlines (Iran and Honduras). It too is "dreadfully factual," but as a recent contributor wrote, "Too bad the truth is funnier than fiction." I agree that the History section is fanciful and pointless, but just don't know enough to undertake the job. To translate a history of continual coups, into an entertaining story of continual coups, it would be nice if the writer made some point about the Venezuelan character (I don't know that either), or if the coups became so predictable that that was the joke. Good luck. --SpikeFromNH 19:11, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
