Thanks -- Yeah, I believe that with respect to stage comedies Noel Coward once referred to the "sad bit at the end" as an essential part of the form. I suppose he meant that it gives the comedy a bit of depth and perspective. And of course a posthumous biography pretty much has to end with the death of the subject. Anyway.
