Just out of curiosity, is the drop bear originally from the game Escape Velocity, or was it taken from somewhere else? --Spintherism 02:25, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Of course not. Drop Bears are deadly animals native to Australia, and they really really do exist... Well, they do when there are gullible foreigners about anway. Especially if said foreigners are American.

Ah, I figured it was something like that. It sounded sort of familiar and I remembered it was somehow mentioned in that game, but I wasn't sure in what way. I guess I'll remember to keep forks in my hat if I ever visit Australia. --Spintherism 05:18, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Spintherism: I'm not entirely sure, but I think the author was referring to a famous Australian ad when a polar bear climbs a tree and jumps out of it to scare (very attractive) tourists into the other people's tent. Needless to say, this article is much funnier. Well done, whoever wrote this, --Joachim22 01:08, 5 Dec 2005 (UTC)

But this article seems to be about koala bears rather than drop bears...

Some bloody ning nong seems to have changed every occurrence of "Drop Bear" to "Koala Bear". This should be reverted - the drop bear is a larger much more dangerous animal. Someone could get hurt.

My sister was killed recently by a drop bear. I cannot express how sickened I am that some American has decided to lie to us Aussies and cover up this deception. I am typing with a loaded gun in my mouth because I am sooo depressed about the entire thing (I am not making this up). You should be ashamed of yourself. My sister could have been still alive but nooooooooooooooooo, a jerk like you has to chaaaaaaaaaange evrything, I HATE YOU YOU MAKE ME SICK ARRRRRRRRRR (bang)

DROP bears are over sized koala's that have grown to a massive size. they got the name drop bear because in droughts or very long heat waves they are thristy and get pissed off very easy from tourist,Loggers and bush walkers. --theironpaw

Stick forks in your hat. While this may not actually prevent the Drop Bear from attacking you, it will certainly deter it from attacking you again.

Oh me bloody Lord, I wet meself laughing. 67.107.64.11 13:12, July 14, 2011 (UTC)

That koala looks like it's on speed. Usually they just look stoned. Good picture though! Nominally Humane! 01:18 18 Jul
