This award seems to have lost most of its relevance. It's endured many dead months and repeat wins, to the point that the last victor has won it five times in a row and is primed to get it again, while only 20 different users have won it in total. Since a remarkable showing by Zana Dark exactly a year ago, no one has won with more than 6 votes. It's got all the qualities of a dead/dying award. Makes me wonder how necessary it really is among the other official awards, anymore.

This is a lot of shit. Relegating the Goldstein and many other awards to the trash heap, is like demoting the significance of recording an UnNews audio. It's like saying, "Oh, you spent time and effort, recording and uploading, sometimes more than one a day every day for more than a month, and we used to think it was valuable enough for an award. Now you suck. Anybody who's won it sucks. Fuck you."
Yes, Froggy, I'm talking to you. Just because you return "disillusioned with the site and community at large," doesn't give you license to start unilaterally fucking around with long-standing awards. Again, in your words on your talk page, you say "This means that my persona has shifted from "haughtily cynical" to "outright cranky"." OK, I laughed when I first read it because I thought it was pretty funny. Then you write, "In general, and once again, it's your business to deal with it, because it's not changing." Turns out you're dead serious. You pretty much challenge Uncyclopedians to go fuck themselves. UnNews is my business, and I'm dealing with it. I see you deleting lots of cruft and you've written some ok articles, lovely, that's wonderful. However this bad attitude of your, seemingly unjustified bannings, users grumbling about your abusive attitude, and being a generally poor sport, give the appearance that you don't want to be here. As an admin, you should know better than abuse contributing users, whatever your opinions. Now that you understand that you've irritated some of us, why don't you grow up? Zimbuddha.jpg Rev. • For. I never saw the point of this award anyway, since we have ANOTM already. They should be merged.--Sir HELPME Talk (more? --> CUN ROTM NOTM Pleb USS Pees SK ) On Monday, 03:37, July 19 2010 UTC
These are two completely different tecniques involved. UnNews audio is a different style and effort involved than the ANOTM one. If anything, the Emmanual award is much "older" had much more activity in it than the ANOTM. Still they both have a place. ~Jewriken.GIF 15:42, July 19, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I get the difference now. But I'm not sure if I'll remove my vote at this point.--Sir HELPME Talk (more? --> CUN ROTM NOTM Pleb USS Pees SK ) On Monday, 03:45, July 19 2010 UTC
I disagreedmented. The two are very different. A news reader reads in a style of reporting news, and Spike describes it perfectly on the other award page. But an article reader should have a more dramatic reading, like Dexters on that "what does a nigga have to do to get a pee review 'round here" page he recorded recently. Two different types of audio renditions. The one and only problem is that not enough people are recording (Mordillo did a great recording with sound effects awhile back), so SPIKE is winning everything, as it should be. He's doing an excellent job at news recording, and is doing article recordings as well. Instead of voting on this we should, imnho, be praising SPIKE for winning it 5 times in a row, a commendable record and a great servide to our news division. Aleister 16:09 20 7

Against: Don't retire the bastard!

Score: 11
  • Retire it? Is this a joke forum too, like the removal of a admin. forum seems to be a joke. This award is fine, and if Spike wins it every month for a year in a row it's because he's doing good n' plenty readings and recordings. If someone else comes in and records, thus adding to this important part of Uncy, they will likely win it too. Aleister 00:25 20 7
Thank you, Aleister. And I intend to win it every month for a year. No one thinks my stuff has been found superior to anyone else's stuff. All it means is that I have found an abandoned corner of this web site to tidy up, with 102 of the 106 UnNews Audios since 9-Feb, see end of this section and I will keep it tidy for longer than any Uncyclopedian has ever kept anything tidy, and would be recognized for that.
I knew other newsreaders might come along and win under the loathsome mush criterion that everyone should be a winner. I have favored others winning Foolitzers as they have stepped up to contribute more. But members taking offense to the mere idea that someone is accumulating bling is too close to the class-warfare demagoguery that is ruining my country--that achievement is the principal cause of poverty, that someone's pursuit of excellence is what keeps someone else mediocre. Mr. Froggy: You are harmed--How?
As for a minimum vote threshold, how much of the time that I now spend trimming flubs, stuttering, and excessive pauses, would you have me instead lining up 5 mannequins, just as some of you play the "I'll be the author so you can be the nominator" fakery on VFH to evade the rule on self-promotion? • Keep but don't give it out if there aren't enough votes. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 02:37, July 19, 2010 (UTC)
  • Very much against. You don't kill a sick puppy, you cure it. Audio creation can be a tremendousness task, no less than writing, and it deserves its own award. As for the minimum vote - that's a good idea, but if we do that, we need to do that all across the board. There are several other "sick" awards that need the same treatment. ~Jewriken.GIF 07:35, July 19, 2010 (UTC)
  • Keep....add a +5 vote minimum to receive the award, and I'm really not arsed if the same guy/gal "wins" the award several times, hard work and quality should be rewarded. I hate the whole "lets give it to someone who hasn't won it" attitude.....if someone deserves to win, let them win.....just means that others have to try harder. Time to raise the bar, gentlemen... -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
  • Keep it, of course -- There is no valid argument to dump it. It does no harm, and is plenty significant to some active users. We at UnNews like out little perks. 1. I'm unsure whether to vote for or against because I'm not sure if by "the bastard" you're referring to the award or TKF. Please clarify, thank you. User:Mrthejazz/sig 13:01, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Who else is recording

It turns out the statistics on my dominance of UnNews Audio, above, are an extreme exaggeration. Having recoded UnNews:AudioArchive, with tools that Gert5 found or devised, to make it a useful chronological index, I see that other people are doing UnNews Audios all the time. But they aren't following the directions to advertise their work in {{RecentUnNewsAudio}}. Spıke ¬ 06:34 26-Jul-10

"Directions"? You do know where you are, right? Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 08:11, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

On further review, even the above isn't true. People aren't making a lot of new audios; Anons are making a lot of tweaks to years-old UnNewses with years-old audios. So I don't know. Spıke ¬ 12:06 26-Jul-10

Just accept that you are the only one still using the ancient technology of recording words. You should really be texting, people don't talk anymore. Except on TV, and that's all fake anyway as most of them are pre-recorded (1990 technology) puppets. Aleister 12:10 26 7

In two-parent families--that's how you can tell. Actually, Rev. Zim still has the capability, if he ever gets around to getting it repaired; and since I arrived, the other four advertised UnNews Audios were from Mordillo, Zana Dark, Ljlego, and Mrthejazz. Also, Lordarcadian recently asked me how to learn the ropes. Spıke ¬ 12:28 26-Jul-10

  • Comment. If the minimum votes are put in effect they should be, imnho, "For" votes only. Someone could get 6 fors and then two people could bring the total under the "minimum", which doesn't seem fair to a new policy. Well, maybe something good came from this forum. Aleister 11:44 20 7
