A card is a thin, rectangular sheet of skin, traditionally allowed to sun-dry until mostly solid before it is painted on. In recent years, it is more common for large Card-making Factories to pressure-cook the skin until it is hard, yet slightly flexible.

There are many varieties of cards, and they are all identified by the type of skin from which they are made, the finishing gloss, and the designs painted on the front. Some Animal rights Activists have tried to replace animal or human skin with cardboard, but it was not very successful. Cards are often used either for gaming, collecting (proving that you are a bigger nerd, geek or loser than someone else), gambling, for monetary exchange, or for identification; each with varying results.
