StepMania, the Free DDR Ripoff(TM) is widely considered to be the poor man's dance game. Someone who has enough money to afford a computer and a broadband Internet connection probably isn't poor, but that's beside the point. Well, not really - StepMania simfiles are a widely recognized and widely disregarded vehicle for music piracy. Anyway...another popular complaint against StepMania is that it is "DDR for people who are too lazy to use their feet." (isn't that beatmania?) Real dance-game geeks consider it dishonorable to play StepMania using a keyboard, but everyone does so anyway.
